Death Valley Nights, off of the Spectres album, is one of my favorites by BOC. It’s an eerie melody that meanders until it hits full stride, then chooses to slowly slither on until ending in a full run.
Neil Young’s Powderfinger has everything I want in a song. Rust Never Sleeps is a rich album to consume with so many great tracks but this may be my favorite.
So I was a kid in California when Tower of Power came out with the album that gave us “What is Hip”. Tower of Power was from Oakland, and back in those days I’d listen to AM radio from San Francisco and they played this song quite a bit.
