Song 366: I’m One

The 1970s were the heyday of the rock band double record “story” album. Few if any were better than The Who’s Quadrophenia in quality of music. And that 1973 offering is where you’ll find the gem “I’m One” at.

Is this the most soulful singing that Pete Townshend did as a member of The Who? He packs a lot of lonely intensity into two and a half minutes. And I love the active guitar work hiding behind his voice.

And I can’t get that even tanned look on my face.
