Song 358: Downed

Cheap Trick is a complicated music choice for me.  There are a couple of studio albums I own and really enjoy.  Live at Budokan is a great live album.

But I’ve seen them twice in concert, and both times I was disappointed.  I don’t know if I expected too much or what.  The first time, the sound mix was bad (outdoor stadium show) and that was that.  The last time was late in the twenty-teens in Hershey, and of the 3 bands that played that day, they were the least impressive.  And honestly, they were the draw for why I went to the show.

But the one song I wanted to hear in Hershey but did not was “Downed”, and it is an underappreciated song by Cheap Trick.  You always hear Surrender, or something off of Budokan, but Downed is as good as anything they did.  I just looked at some of Cheap Trick’s most recent concerts’ set lists – still not playing Downed.

Play Downed.
