I was never a big fan of Janis Joplin, but my appreciation grew once I heard Beth Hart.
Immortal is just a kick ass song, and Hart has a Joplinesque quality to her voice. She constantly threatens to overpower the song with her vocals, but it’s perfectly dialed back every time.
This song reminds me of the West Shore YMCA. It was part of my Walkman mix, and then my MP3 mix, for working out there. It’s a pump up song.
I really owe it to myself to get better acquainted with the rest of her discography. She’s still out there performing, too.
