I have a love/ignore relationship with Blondie. There are 5 or 6 of their songs that are always welcome to my ears (mostly from the album Parallel Lines), and several that I really don’t need to hear again (like Heart of Glass). It’s for that reason I’ve never seen them in concert. I need a higher meat to potatoes ratio.
Angels on the Balcony’s title was unknown to me until I bought the CD at least a decade after this album came out. Always loved the song, but always thought it was called Afterglow. Hey, it was the early 1980s and I lived in Northern California and partied too much to catch the details for a lot of things. Or remember the details. Or even care about the details.
Blondie’s vocals on this track are as good as any they recorded. Debbie Harry and the harmonies are excellent.
