Song 335: I Will Follow

U2’s EP, Under A Blood Red Sky, was the first time I had ever heard of Red Rocks in Colorado.  I knew then I wanted to go to a show there.  But life hasn’t taken me that way yet.  I’m going to have to make a point to force my way there.

It was also the first record I bought by U2.  I have 4 albums by the band now – I’m clearly not a TOTAL fan, but they do have some great music.  I Will Follow – the 1983 live version – is one of my favorites.  It wasn’t really that big of a hit initially in the United States.  Apparently, though, it is the band’s second most frequently performed song in concert.  There is an interesting history of the song on Wikipedia.

For the longest time, I thought the lyrics included “walk away from new wave”.  But there’s no evidence that is the case.
