I don’t know much about Alive ’N Kickin’, but I love their 1970 hit “Tighter, Tighter.”
Tommy James reportedly considered giving “Crystal Blue Persuasion” to the group but liked it too much to let it go. He kept that song for the Shondells and later co-wrote and produced “Tighter, Tighter” for Alive ’N Kickin’. It reached No. 7 in the United States.
The group’s original run ended not long afterward, helping turn it into one of those records nearly everyone recognizes but few people can identify.
“Tighter, Tighter” is essential for any soundtrack of 1970.
