The first time I heard “I’m Shipping Up To Boston” by the Dropkick Murphys was in the 2006 film “The Departed” (which is a great flick btw). I missed the song’s first go around a few years before, probably having something to do with having young kids. The song DID enhance the movie, and I had to search the Internet for it. And still I knew little. It wasn’t until recently that I found out the lyrics are from Woody Guthrie.
And then I bookmarked YouTube version, and it made my eventual Spotify lists, and I just love the entire energy of the song. Well, the Dropkick Murphys energy, that is. The Wiggles recorded it last year, trying to avoid that version.
