Death Cab for Cutie’s “Plans”, released in 2005, had a lot of great songs on it.
But sometimes you hear a song so simple and haunting that you cannot forget it.
And you feel it may have greater purpose in your life, such as a summing up of your belief in the hereafter and the end of this mortal life.
Such is “I Will Follow You Into the Dark”, it has reached me in a way that sings both musically and lyrically to me.
When I get the near the end, if I plan my final sendoff at all, I may choose to have this song play at my memorial. I think it is appropriate.
