When David Bowie came out with “Blue Jean” in 1984, I will admit, I wasn’t that excited about it. Seemed too saxophone-y.
Give the Black Eyed Man album a listen. Murder, Tonight, in the Trailer Park is a fairly laid back tune that accentuates the story in the lyrics and especially Margo Timmins’ vocals. If you don’t love her singing after hearing this song, not sure what the issue is
There was a time when I thought Sarah McLachlan was going to be the biggest new music star of the 1990s. That didn’t happen, but she put out some great music.
The album Everyone is Here, by the Finn Brothers, reached me personally when it came out in 2004. Particularly the song Disembodied Voices.
I really enjoy the early stuff by Steely Dan. Can’t Buy a Thrill, their debut, is still their best in my opinion. As they matured, I found their music less accessible to me. By the time they released Aja and Goucho, I was disinterested.

Mmmbop by Hanson was one of the best pop songs of the 90s. It kind of reminds me of an ABBA song, just a little island of something else in an era of Seattle sound and rap that people enjoyed.
